Organic-based Lawn Care feeds the soil that feeds the grass.
Long before the existence of synthetic fertilizers, plants obtained nutrients from decomposed organic matter such as bone, blood, fish and other organic waste. However, the soil in our yards has been bulldozed and disturbed over the years and is missing those critical organisms that foster healthy root development for grass to thrive.
Organic-based Lawn Care feeds the soil that feeds the grass.
The introduction of organic matter results in the stimulation of soil microbial activity which improves the soil. This creates an environment better able to support plant life and provides a slow and consistent flow of nutrients to the plant thus promoting a harmonious balance between soil and plant. Organic care naturally balances the pH of the soil.
Traditional chemical fertilizers feed the grass only.
Often fertilizer acts as a quick ‘pick me up’ for lawns but neglects the major problems in the soil. If you have weak, unhealthy soil and you are fertilizing your lawn, you are merely making your lawn appear healthy but not adding to the ‘nutrition’ of your soil.
What does healthy soil mean?
One advantage of having healthy soil is that you don’t need to water nearly as much. Additionally, your grass develops a healthy root system which makes it hardier in a drought year and leaves little room for things such as lawn disease, weed, or insect damage.
